Wired Shows Their iPad Concept At TED2010

At the current round of TED talks currently underway in California, Wired magazine have shown talked about their upcoming digital version of their magazine, which will be available on the iPad. Wired Magazine Editor-in-Chief Chris Anderson announced that Wired for the iPad will be available this Summer.

The demo showed the ability to scroll through articles horizontally and vertically, with integrated animations, videos and advertisements. Plus you won’t get dozens of subscription cards with each issue.

While no specific details were mentioned about pricing, it sounds like subscriptions will be available, which will save on the cover price especially for international readers. Wired is a very inexpensive magazine to subscribe to in the United States, but shipping it overseas comes at a high cost. Given that they don’t change the content at all for international editions, hopefully the price will be low for foreign buyers. With any luck, most magazines will follow this model, and allow cheap digital distribution internationally.

Looking forward to reading magazines on the iPad? Why not check out our competition to win one this April!
