Video Recording For Non-3GS, At Amazing 3FPS

Since the appearance of apps like ustream, it was just a matter of time till someone developed an app that would allow you to record video from the first generation and 3G iPhones. We’ve known this was technically possible, as you can do it via Jailbreak, but iVideoCamera is the first to do it legit. iVideoCamera ($0.99, iTunes link) takes the feed from the camera, and saves it as video, albeit with tight restrictions. How tight? We’ll just quote from the official release.

- The iPhone can only capture about 3 frames per second
- Videos are limited to about 1 minute in length
- Resolution is low: 160×213

Three frames a second is pretty limiting. Baby steps, baby steps.
