Ustream Brings Streaming to the iPhone

Popular streaming service Ustream has brought its capabilities to the iPhone, in a free app called Ustream Live Broadcaster. It works over WiFi or 3G, and even has the ability to stream video out of the iPhone 3G in local mode, which outputs it as 320×240.

The video can be sent via chat, or using Ustream’s Social Stream, which integrates with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and AIM.

I’m just impressed that this app can take video from the 3G, a feat previously only possible through jailbreaking, and one that many thought Apple would roll out via firmware update. This app shows that it’s entirely possible to pull video from the iPhone 3G, and there’s no physical reason why it shouldn’t be accessible normally.
