Tweetie 2 Pulled From The App Store, ‘Twitter For iPhone’ On The Way?

Tweetie 2 — generally regarded as the best of the iPhone twitter apps — has disappeared from the App Store. While this caused some to pull their hair out in consternation, the most likely reason for this is most likely quite good. In early April, Twitter themselves bought up Tweetie, so that means we’re probably going to be seeing the official Twitter client land on the iPhone shortly.

So Twitter probably pulled Tweetie 2, and in its place “Twitter For iPhone” will doubtless be available in the near future — and the price will be lowered from $2.99 down to a big, fat zero dollars!

Now we’ll just see if any cool new functionality is thrown in too. Maybe a universal iPhone/iPad app?
