Sling Says AT&T Had Nothing To Do With 3G Streaming

Yesterday AT&T claimed that it would allow SlingPlayer to work over 3G by getting Sling to make an optimized version to be more efficient on their network. Now, however, Sling is saying they didn’t change a thing!
When Ars Technica contacted Sling to see what precisely they’d done to meet AT&T’s requests to be softer on the bandwidth, ”we didn’t change anything,” said Sling Media’s John Santoro. “AT&T never discussed any specific requirements with us.”
Apparently SlingPlayer has always had the code to adapt the stream to network conditions, and AT&T never asked them to change their app. AT&T’s press release yesterday said, “they made important changes to more efficiently use 3G network bandwidth and conserve wireless spectrum so that we were able to support the app on our 3G mobile broadband network.”
Oh, snap! Someone wasn’t telling the truth!
