Maine Considers Cellphone Cancer Labels

Seriously? Damnit Maine, I thought you were cool! What the hell is this? It’s scaremongering at its worst. Right now the evidence is conflicted, but the majority leans towards cellphones having no significant increase in risk of cancer (check out this rather excellent writeup on the matter). Not to mention that the same legislation would suggest you use Bluetooth headsets, which you know, also transmits radiation. So do wireless networks, cellphone lines, microwave ovens, the sun, etc.
Cellphones are a requirement for most people at present, both for business and social reasons. There’s limited evidence of increase in cancer risk. This sort of scare mongering will do nothing to reduce the problem, and will only serve to scare the already terrified—people who purchase antibacterial everything.
