Jailbreak Exploits Graduate from Rickrolling to Data Theft

Utilizing the same default password trick as the Australian Rickroll worm from earlier this week, security firm Intego is reporting a malware that will steak data from your phone. Once again, this relies on your jailbroken iPhone having the default password for SSH access. Intego are indentifying the malware as iPhone/Privacy.A, and according to them:

When connecting to a jailbroken iPhone, this tool allows a hacker to silently copy a treasure trove of user data from a compromised iPhone: e-mail, contacts, SMSs, calendars, photos, music files, videos, as well as any data recorded by any iPhone app. Unlike the ikee worm, which signals its presence by changing the iPhone’s wallpaper, this hacker tool gives no indication that it has invaded an iPhone.

Unlike the Rickroll, this malware doesn’t spread itself, but is installed on a computer, and then scans iPhones on the same network, making it suited for uses on large public WiFi networks, like airports. So, remember kids, change your passwords!
