Ion Brings First Keyboard To The iPhone
Well, someone has finally done it. They’ve finally managed to throw together a physical keyboard for the iPhone/iPod Touch! Sure, it’s a bit large and expensive (going for $110), and not quite the portable version I long for, for blogging from the pub, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Ion, the company making it, is better known for their music equipment. The iType carries its own battery, so it will charge your phone while you type. It has full size keys, though I’m curious to see how the function and modifiers work. No word on weight yet, but expect to see it available for sale in Q2 2010.

For those more musically—but less writerly—inclined, Ion have also announced a 25-key piano keyboard, called the iDiscover Keyboard, with velocity-sensitive, synth-action keys, pitch and modulation wheels, and physical buttons for the most commonly used controls including octave up and down and sound-bank selections. They haven’t announced a price on that yet.
