Fake Steve Jobs Rallies The Troops Against AT&T

Fake Steve Jobs, the comedic take on everyone’s favorite turtlenecked CEO, has called iPhone users to war against AT&T, and is trying to rally a DoS attack against the company on Friday. He wants all iPhone users, on Friday, to run data intensive apps for an hours to try and bring the network to their knees. His exact words are:

Subject: Operation Chokehold

On Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. THe idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. Join us and speak truth to power!

While we applaud attempts to show AT&T that we are a key group, and that they shouldn’t be spending all their effort to berate us for using the data that we pay for. That said, this is an extremely dangerous game to play. Civil disobedience against a corporation is one thing, but if this really does take down AT&T’s network, it could interfere with emergency services. So, if you do get involved, be aware of what you’re doing.

Damn the man, save the Empire!
