AT&T Activates 3.2 Million iPhones This Quarter
AT&T announced their Q2 earnings earlier today, and not surprisingly, the iPhone has brought them another bumper quarter. They activated 3.2 million iPhones, a record for the company, of which approximately 27% were new customers. Overall, earnings are up 26% this quarter, a profit of $4.02 billion, up from $3.2 billion a year ago.
For those wondering what they’re putting some of this filthy, filthy money towards, at least some of it is going to improving their network. During the call about the earnings, they discussed the improvements in New York, which as seen dropped calls lowered by 23% in Manhattan, blocked calls dropped 39%, 3G speeds up 31%. They did admit that their other notorious dead zone — San Francisco — was lagging behind in improvements.
