Apple/Quattro Planning ViP Program?
TechCrunch grabbed a very interesting scoop yesterday, about the plans that Apple and its recent purchase Quattro are planning for iAds. It’s called ViP — Verification of iTunes Purchase. From what I understand (which is admittedly limited), the service will give detailed analytical information based on impressions to downloads ratio, which can only happen due to its proprietary link to the app store. And once they’ve downloaded your app, they won’t see your ad again.
This is something no other advertising provider for the iPhone can offer, as none of them have access to this level of data. It’s giving Apple’s own service a mammoth edge over the competition, and doubtless the other companies are severely pissed off right now.
