Apple Targeting Fall Release For Tablet Computer
Where there’s smoke there’s either an iTablet or just more iTablet rumors. Just last week, rumors swirled around a mysterious tablet device that would be available on Verizon Wireless. Now comes word via Financial Times that Apple is “racing to offer a tablet-sized computer for the Christmas season”. Specs are nothing more but speculation, but FT says the screen may be up to 10 inches when measured diagonally.

Netbook computers are gaining in popularity, but Apple seem uninterested in that particular market. A tablet computer could find a sweet spot between iPhone/iPod touch and the companies laptop line that starts at $999. It’s like the tablet computer would be more Internet device than phone, but the partnership with Verizon could make the tablet “always connected”.
Entertainment executives in particular believe the device could once again result in a revolution in the industry, pointing to how fabulous it will be to watch movies. The larger screen could pose a threat to Amazon’s Kindle, but not likely considering the display which effectively mimics the look of an actual printed page. No question, Apple would sell more eBooks, but the screen technology might make it difficult to read for long intervals.
So when can you pick up one of these table computers for yourself? Oppenheimer & Co analyst Yair Reiner believes that Apple is aiming for September or October.
