Apple Passes Nokia As Most Profitable Handset Maker
Even though Apple doesn’t officially release profits, reports are filtering in that Apple has bypassed Nokia as the most profitable handset maker in the business. The report comes from Strategy Analysts, who estimate Apple’s third quarter takings at $1.6 billion, overtaking Nokia’s $1.1 billion. Keep in mind that Nokia controls a significantly larger share of the market than Apple, which leads weight to the view that smartphones have higher profit margins than non-smarts.

The two companies are also in legal conflict at the moment, as Nokia is suing Apple over claims of various patent violations. The settlement they’ll be asking for is estimated to be as high as $1 billion.
