App Store Hits 10,000 iPad Apps

The meteoric rise of the app store continues, with iPad apps flooding the service. In just six weeks, the number of iPad apps has doubled — from 5,000 to over 10,000. This information is gathered by hitting up the app store from your iPad, where the number of apps available for download is proudly displayed.
With iOS 4 just around the corner, you can bet that the app store is going to grow immensely to take advantage of the new features — and with that will come the requisite slow down of app approvals.
I figure that there will also be an onslaught of new crap apps that use the capabilities of the OS and iPhone 4 in different ways. I’m predicting hundreds of “mirror” apps, that will allow you to put glasses, mustaches, and hats on your face. Call it a hunch.
