Analyst Eightball: Tablet Launch in June, $999
Shaw Wu with Kaufman Bros. gave a note to investors saying that his supply chain sources paint a picture of a launch along the same timeline as the original iPhone: January announcement and a six month later launch. He thinks a June launch, due to “minor issues” with perfecting battery life and durability. He also expects the device to retail for $999, and he calls it the iSlate, describing it as a “super iPod touch”. $999 is on the high side of things, and I believe would decrease its popularity if it were to cost that much. Wu also believes that it will connect to the internet over wi-fi only, not 3G.
