Analyst Eightball: iPhones and Android to be Hit Hard by Hackers in 2010

This game never gets old! Today we have Roel Schouwenberg—of Kaspersky Lab Americas— talking to USA Today. Kaspersky is a pretty big name in viruses and malware, so they keep an eye on the dark-hat types. Roel says that 2010 will be the year cybercriminals come after the iPhone and Android. 2009 saw the first proof of concept attacks, and next year they’ll come into their own.

Schouwenberg certainly has a good pedigree, he’s a senior malware researcher at Kaspersky, so he knows what’s going on with the cybercriminal types. At the same time, a scared population buys their products, so it might be in their best interests to try and drum up some worry. We’ll see what happens, especially as, so far, the malware has only hit jailbroken models.
