Analyst Eightball: $2.8 Billion In Tablet Sales In The First Year?
Mike Abramsky at RBC Capital Markets is predicting an impressive $2.8 billion in revenue for the tablet over the first 12 months of its existence. This is from an estimate of $600 (wouldn’t that be nice?), a 30% margin, and five million units sold. If that price was bumped to $800, he predicts it would only sell around one million units. However, if it was as low as $500, that would bring in $4.2 billion, as 10 million of the tablets would be purchased.
Abramsky is citing this as the unsubsidized price, and that it would go or $200-$300 with a carrier subsidy.
I like his numbers, but I’m doubtful. The vast majority of other estimates have put the tablet in the $800-$1000 range. I would freaking love to see it go for $500 unsubsidized, but frankly I don’t think it’s going to happen. For all their strength
